Katy Perry : Follows Lady Gaga In Mermaid Trend

Of all the potential beefs in the music industry, the mermaid does not seem like the most likely of the instigator. But that may change. Shortly after Lady Gaga teasing her that she was a mermaid's alter ego, Micro, may be "born" in the next music video, Katy Perry tweeted picture of himself dressed as a mermaid.
"PROPER board FTW # itswhatArielwoulddo!," He wrote on Twitter, exhibiting a second entry into the phenomenon of internet boards, where people post a photo of himself lying face down, with their arms at their sides, in an awkward location.
In the photo, Perry performed in full mermaid dress: He wore a purple wig with hairpins starfish, one aqua and pink shimmering mermaid tail with matching bra top. He was surrounded by glossy paper and the water acts as a buffer bridge looms in the background. There has been no official word on the purpose of shooting.
While not commenting on any similarities Gaga mermaids, creative director, Laurieann Gibson, did make reference to it on Twitter just hours after Perry tweeted a picture of herself. "Proud of my # 1 artist in the world @ Ladygaga vision & passion even if they try to steal the tail there is only a Mermaid. Swim On!" Gibson writes.
Gaga certainly have tried to make a mermaid phase occur for some time now. He was originally introduced fans to Micro Twitter earlier this summer and wear a mermaid for her performance in "Le Grand Journal." Although he apparently nixed the treatment of a mermaid is rumored to "Edge of Glory" his video, he said the talk show last week that Taiwan Micro Fiber is "incubation" and may appear in the video for the fourth yet-abrupt Born This Way single.
Of course, both Gaga and Perry will be the first pop star who thinks using mythological creatures to their sets. Madonna's black and white clip for 1989 is "Cherish," directed by the late fashion photographer Herb Ritts, Madonna splashes in the waves with mermen. Mermaid popping up elsewhere in pop culture as well, as a major plot point in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and the new novel, including a forthcoming book by the "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer.
